Oak Forest names Matt Manzke new Athletic Director

Oak Forest High School Introduces new Athletic Director Matt Manzke

Oak Forest High School has introduced its newest Athletic Director, Matt Manzke. Before taking on his new position, Manzke was an Oak Forest math teacher for 21 years, and was the head basketball coach for 14 years.

Manzke grew up in Orland Park, and attended Marist High School. Later on, he graduated from the University of Illinois with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Education. He calls his journey to Oak Forest High School “lucky,” adding that his first job interview out of college was to work at Oak Forest, and he has not looked back since.

“Our school has supportive students, community members and faculty members who all work together to make Oak Forest High School a special place,” Manzke said. “I can’t wait to continue the traditions we’ve built at Oak Forest High School. We take a lot of pride in providing great athletic experiences for our students.”

"Oak Forest High School is lucky to welcome Matt Manzke to his new role as Athletic Director,” said Oak Forest High School Principal, Jane Dempsey. “His passion and expertise as a teacher and coach for the Bengals over the past 20 years will now translate for the benefit of all of our athletic teams and athletes.  Mr. Manzke is a strong leader, and better yet, a great person. We are excited for his tenure."

Manzke met his wife, Heather, an Oak Forest Physical Education teacher, during his journey on the job. Together, they have three children: Matthew, 14, Ryan, 12, and Kaylee, 10.

The first day of the 2022-23 school year will be Aug. 16.
