Oak Forest High School is a comprehensive public high school with a student population of approximately 1,325 students in grades 9-12. We are located at 15201 South Central Avenue in Oak Forest, Illinois. Oak Forest High School was built in 1970 and sits in the middle of an attractive residential neighborhood. We are conveniently located near Moraine Valley and South Suburban Community Colleges, Governors State University, St. Xavier University and south suburban extensions of DePaul, and Illinois Institute of Technology.
The vast majority of our students come to us from the community of Oak Forest, but it is important to know that we do receive students from nine other communities. Those communities are Country Club Hills, Crestwood, Hazel Crest, Markham, Midlothian, Orland Park, Palos, Posen, and Tinley Park.
The Oak Forest High School motto, "Academics plus Activities equal Excellence," has never been truer than it is today. We truly believe in this motto, and it has become the guide for all academic and co-curricular programs at Oak Forest High School. Academics continue to be the top priority at Oak Forest High School. High expectations concerning academics, activities, and athletics serve as outstanding characteristics of Oak Forest High School.
In addition to these positive aspects, Oak Forest High School is the beneficiary of tremendous support from parents and the community as a whole. The academic program, athletic program and building and grounds have all benefited greatly from numerous cooperative efforts involving parents, community, and Oak Forest High School faculty and staff members.
The student body of Oak Forest High School has continued its long tradition of academic success, and this past year was no exception. Forty-two students were recognized as Illinois State Scholars, and seventy members of the class received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence. Two students were awarded National Merit Scholarship Commended status. Oak Forest High School also produced numerous state finalists in BPA, DECA, FCCLA, and ICE.
One of the major contributing factors to our academic success is our attendance rate. Our average student attendance rate is 95% and our graduation rate for this past five years has been 96%.
