Oak Forest High School is going gold for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. The initiative began on September 1, at the Oak Forest High School football game, where all athletes began wearing gold all month long.
Our Oak Forest sophomore class student council is partnering with Cal's Angels, which is an organization that grants wishes, raises awareness, and funds research to help kids fighting cancer. In the café all week and at our home football game on September 1st, the sophomore class sold shirts to raise funds for Cal's Angels. The t-shirts are can still be purchased, and are $10 and can be purchased with credit card, cash or Venmo.
Additionally, during our home soccer game on September 26, the soccer program will be hosting their annual Fight Against Childhood Cancer Night that the soccer team has been running since 2018. Our soccer program is partnering with The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. This organization was founded and still run by the mother of an OFHS alum who's son is a childhood cancer survivor. The soccer program will be raising funds through a bake sale, basket auction, donations, a 50/50 raffle, and a special shirt sale to support this organization.
