In collaboration w/the Cook County Clerk's Office & BHSD228, OFHS was selected to pilot a High School Early Voting Program for the IL primary election. Today, staff & students living in Cook County were able to take part in the early voting w/the help of a few trained Bengal students. Our student election judges have been preparing for this & they’ll be working alongside the Cook County Clerk’s Office to ensure everything runs smoothly & professionally.

This is a rare chance for our students to see the process up close & for those who qualify, to part. in a real election inside their own school. It’s a powerful way to reinforce what civic engagement looks like beyond the textbook.

Our Intro to Criminal Justice class recently took part in the OFHS Police Cadet Kickoff. The OF Police Cadet Program provides first-hand experiences & an insight into the operations of law enforcement for interested juniors & seniors who possess good moral character, self-discipline & a desire to learn about law enforcement. Thanks to Community Programs Officer from the OF Police Dptmt, Tracy W. , for sharing her experiences to our students.

Bengal alum Jackie V. returned to OFHS on Feb. 11th to work w/Mr. Chambers & Art Club in recognition of "Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month" & to promote positive & healthy relationships. Jackie, who is currently working as a rep of the Crisis Ctr for South Suburbia, assisted Art Club students in designing & decorating "candy hearts" w/positive messages that are displayed outside our Student Services office.

The Crisis Ctr, based in TP, is a non-profit organ. that provides emergency shelter & essential services for individuals & families victimized by domestic violence. Students in need are eligible to receive 8 free counseling sessions @ the ctr - students can also earn service credit hrs by volunteering at their 2 resale shops "Neat Repeats" (Hotline 708-429-7233 - 24/7)
