A BIG WIN for the Bengals on the road - 42-0 vs Stagg!! UPROAR shined bright w/ the help of the OF DECA leaders! #TheBengalWay #winningontheroad @oakforestfootball

In collaboration with The Nature Conservancy at Indian Boundary Prairies in Markham, IL, students from our Environmental Investigations classes had the opportunity to visit Paintbrush Prairie and discover the incredible treasure we have right here in our community.

While the original plan was to participate in a butterfly feeding event, the monarchs were not available. The Nature Conservancy quickly rescheduled activities, which resulted in some amazing new experiences for our students! They learned about the vital role prairies play in our environment, explored plant and animal species unique to this habitat, and gained insight into invasive species—along with the ongoing efforts by The Nature Conservancy and the Illinois Department of Transportation to control their spread.

Students also had the chance to walk through the prairie and collect samples for observation. Following their time at Paintbrush Prairie, they visited Oak Forest High School to observe the prairie restoration work in progress along 151st Street.

Having access to these sites as part of their studies allows students to engage in authentic, hands-on learning while deepening their understanding of local environments and habitats.

"Start With Hello Week" ended w/Mellow Yellow Friday - popcorn & a movie during lunches while students wrote compliment cards to others. A very special THANK YOU to the OF Social Workers who brought Bengal Nation together this week w/all the positive messages & smiles!

Mrs. Hellinga & her chemistry class ventured outside today where they enjoyed the nice cool weather & worked on their precision & accuracy lab.

The OF Boys Varsity Soccer team spent Saturday morning volunteering w/the OF chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The team helped out w/sanding, drilling & staining bed frames which resulted in 35 beds being built that will go to local children in need. It's great to see our Bengals helping the community.

The OFHS Library offered their students a fun program that took place this past summer. They had 244 students participate in the summer reading & bingo program & 31 of those students won prizes for their BINGOs. The students received their prizes (a free book, a 3d printed object, Bengal wear, a gift card for the Bengal store, or a swag bag) during the first week of school . Congrats to all the OF students that participated in this fun event!!
